Anne-Marie first recorded music under the label Rocket Records, where she recorded a demo “Summer Girl”, which was not released. However, she became known and gained music popularity from featuring in songs by Gorgon City and Rudimental, whom the latter originally asked for her to join the group permanently, which she declined.
