Biography

Madhav Kumar Nepal, known informally as “Makuney”, is a Nepali politician who served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 25 May 2009 to 6 February 2011. He previously served as the deputy prime minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence in the cabinet of Man Mohan Adhikari. He was previously the General Secretary of Communist Party of Nepal for 15 years.

In the 2017 General election under the newly written constitution, he is contesting from Kathmandu-2 only because the new constitution no longer allows candidates to be candidates from multiple constituencies. He is running against Nepali Congress candidate Deepak Kuikel and Bibeksheel Sajha Party candidate Suryaraj Sharma.
