Ramon Romario Simmonds, born on October 16, 2001, in Barbados, is a left-arm fast-medium bowler who represents the West Indies in cricket. He bats left-handed and primarily serves as a bowler. He plays for Barbados cricket team in West Indian domestic cricket, having previously represented the West Indies under-19 cricket team.

Early Career:

Simmonds showcased his talent early on by playing for the Barbados Under-17 team in the 2018 West Indies Cricket Board Under-17 Tournament. His potential was further recognized when he was named in the West Indies squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his Under-19 debut on December 10, 2019, against Sri Lanka in the West Indies Under-19 Tri-Nation Series.

Domestic Career:

Simmonds made his first-class debut for Barbados on February 9, 2022, against the Leeward Islands in the West Indies Championship. In this match, he took a total of five wickets, contributing significantly to Barbados’ six-wicket victory. During the 2021–22 season, he emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker for Barbados, claiming 12 wickets in four matches. He continued to impress in the 2022–23 Super50 Cup, making his List A debut on November 1, 2022, against the West Indies Academy, where he secured four wickets for 39 runs.

Franchise Career:

In 2022, Simmonds was signed by the Barbados Royals for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He made his Twenty20 debut on September 1, 2022, against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. His standout performance came on September 27, 2022, when he took three wickets for 17 runs, leading the Royals to a decisive victory in the Qualifier 1 and securing their place in the final. His consistent performances earned him the Emerging Player of the Tournament award, and he was named in the 2022 Hero CPL Team of the Tournament. Following his success in the CPL, Simmonds was acquired by the Paarl Royals to participate in the inaugural season of the SA20 league.

Ramon Simmonds played for the Lumbini Lions in the Nepal T20 Premier League 2024 and made a significant impact as a bowler. His performance with the ball was instrumental in taking crucial wickets during key matches, showcasing his ability to handle high-pressure situations.
