Zeeshan Maqsood (born 24 October 1987) is a prominent Omani cricketer, widely known for his leadership and contributions to Oman’s rise in international cricket. He made his debut for Oman in 2015 during the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament, where he played his first T20 International against Afghanistan. Maqsood quickly established himself as a key player, leading Oman to numerous successful campaigns.

In the 2016 ICC World Cricket League Division Five, he emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with a total of 350 runs, showcasing his consistency and ability under pressure. This achievement was pivotal in boosting his reputation in the cricketing world. Maqsood made his List A debut for Oman in October 2016 during a three-match series against the United Arab Emirates.

His leadership skills were recognized when he was named captain of Oman’s squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three and the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier. Under his captaincy, Oman continued to perform strongly on the international stage. In March 2019, Maqsood led Oman in the ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia, where Oman finished in the top four, earning One Day International (ODI) status.

Maqsood made his ODI debut in 2019, and his leadership was instrumental in Oman’s successful transition to the 50-over format. His notable achievement came in February 2020, when he scored his first ODI century, making an impressive 109 runs against the United States.

Maqsood’s leadership and consistent batting have made him a cornerstone of Oman’s cricket team, and he continues to be a key figure in their international campaigns, both as a player and captain.
